[The sound of wood splintering and catching on fire can be heard in the background.]

This whole thing's pissin' me off. When they gonna leave, huh?

[Another crash and a burst of flame.]

Ugh! Aight, who wants a fight? 'Cause I gotta burn this feelin' off before I go completely nuts.

[Shinji kind of gets the feeling he should just mind his own business, but...]

Who's not leaving?

[Another Eferin-influenced guy over here, and all this noise is getting his temper to flare up. Again.]

Damn it, why've you gotta be so loud about it? I'll give you a fight, pal, if that's what you want.

[He's never really not up for a fight, but he really needs to let off some steam now.]

I dunno! They ain't even got the honor to tell us their names, but they sure as hell are makin' it hard to do anything!

[Beat is totally the most informative person ever, right, Shinji?]

Aight, Suits, you don't like loud? I'll give you loud!

[With another scream he punches into another tree, splintering wood.]

Give you a good idea where'm at, too.

I have no idea what you're talking about, Beat.

[He growls but listens closely anyway. It only serves to frustrate him more.]

That doesn't tell me anything! How the hell am I supposed to hear you yellin' from my house?

[Goodness, Firo, now who's being loud?]

I ain't crazy! You seen the wings, right, Squid?

Donchu tell me you ain't seen 'em!

The hell you lookin' for me in yo' house?

[Because wow, Firo, way to be not so good at hide and seek. ...or something.]

Where you think I'm gonna find a buncha trees no one cares if I burn down, huh?

'Cause that's where I am, genius.

[He searches for clues in Beat's words, but his inability to find anything frustrates him so much that he kicks over a nearby chair with a loud clattering.]

Trees? Half a' this place is made outta trees!

Look for the ones on fire, duh. Damn thing's got me all mad an' then stuff starts burstin' into flames like I'm some kinda psychotechnic.

...You too, huh?

[He'd shut himself in his room to try and keep from getting too agitated, but there are still scorch marks scattered through the room.]

I'll look for 'em. Just don't wreck the whole place, okay?

Guess so. I dunno. [He growls and slams his fist into the tree again.] I don't really know what's goin' on.

[If Neku was here, or if Rhyme or Shiki were here and could understand, then they could explain it to him, but Neku and Shiki were gone and Rhyme was acting weird and--

He snapped and punched the tree again.]

--Aight, I'll be waitin'.

That makes two of us.

[For a little while he enjoyed being able to fly. Now the constant explosiveness and random flames are weighing down on him.]

[He shuts the journal, leaving it behind in the house as he flies up into the air to get a better view of the forest. He spots a fire starting off in the distance and starts toward it.]

[He wanted to respond, but his agitation was making it hard to even sit still for a few minutes. He was able to contain the fire to one tree, which he was still punching, but the ability made him worry. He knew something was going wrong with the village, but he had no idea how he was controlling anything and no idea how to help his sister who he wanted to keep close to, but who whatever was inside him didn't want anything to do with.]

HRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

[He slammed his fist into the tree again, splintering the wood further and snapping a small low branch off.]

Of course I've seen them. Is that what you're talking about?

[This time Firo's close enough to hear the yelling. He lands a few yards away, stumbling as he's still clumsy with his wings, and walks over until he's a safe several feet away from Beat. A fight he can handle; accidentally being lit on fire is something he'd like to avoid.

He grits his teeth to stop from yelling at Beat to be quiet.]

Hey. You ready to go?

Yeah. I dunno why, but somethin' tells me this is someone else's work.

[The sound of someone else's voice brings him around and Beat steps back, dropping low into a defensive stance. The fire on the trees suddenly dies out now that Beat's attention is elsewhere, but he doesn't seem to notice.]

I dunno, you ready for a bruisin?

I'm ready to give one, if that's what you're askin'.

[He rocks back onto his heels, forcing himself to relax so he can adapt to whatever Beat throws at him.

Despite being the strategy he uses almost daily, it's hard to do with Eferin egging him on. If Beat doesn't strike first, Firo will step forward to feint a punch to his head and then knee at his stomach.]

You don't think it was the Malnosso?

Huh? [Who are the Malnosso?]

... [Processing.......]

Oh, those guys?

....

I dunno, Squids. This don't feel like nuthin' they done before.

[Strategy has never been Beat's forte and when Firo relaxes, it only angers him more, which in turn eggs Eferin on. Beat dashes forward and swings a fist right at Firo's face, not carrying about advertising his moves when he has such force behind it.]

HRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

[...Beat, did you forget...?! Shinji is totally judging, but he decides to just leave it at that for now.]

No, I agree. Something about it just felt... different. Maybe that's why it hasn't gone away yet.

[No, because he can't forget what he never remembered, dooooy.]

Hnngh, but I want it to go away 'cause I kinda set somethin' on fire an' I don't want Ribbons to find out.
